Ward 12 Community Issues
I'm Focused on this:

01
The Flour Mill, Donovan and Uptown
Revitalize the Flour Mill area with targeted community projects, street-level life, and new investments to lift up and preserve the heritage and upstart the neighbourhood with new ideas.
02
Montrose Avenue and New Sudbury
Protect Montrose Avenue from Maley Drive cut-through traffic by enforcing strict meandering safety designs on new development. Hold Council to it. Revitalize the Lasalle corridor.
03
Growth and Safety
Prioritize appropriate, livable urban design that completely protects the character, traffic patterns, and daily peace of existing residents. Make the roads and streets better, safer and more well managed in winters.
04
More Opportunities
Bring new Opportunity and Programs to our diverse and varied Ward. Build neighborhood entrepreneurship hubs, pop-up markets, and fund training programs that give young people reasons to stay.
05
New Investments
Generate more Non-Tax Revenue. Aggressively secure external provincial, federal, and industrial funding to build infrastructure and community services without increasing local taxation.
06
More Jobs
Provide families, youth, and displaced workers with more opportunities through local training programs and affordable business hotspots and active initiatives.
"Sudbury Investment + Non-Tax Revenue = New Sudbury Jobs and Prosperity. Let's run City Hall like a business, not a tax collector."
-
Attracting Outside Capital (Sudbury Investment): Leveraging his executive experience in corporate mergers and technology expansion, Ron will aggressively pitch Sudbury to provincial, federal, and industrial partners. He will market our mining identity, tech talent, and strategic location to bring outside dollars directly into projects like the Flour Mill revitalization and the Junction Creek green corridor.
-
Holding the Line on Taxes (Non-Tax Revenue): Ron knows that a business cannot survive by simply charging its existing customers more. He will push for stronger, high-value lease agreements on city lands, maximize corporate contributions from major industrial players, and tie new housing developments to strict, livable infrastructure designs paid for by growth—not the taxpayer.
-
Driving Local Economic Growth (Jobs & Prosperity): By protecting household budgets, families have more to spend locally. Ron will use his background as a multi-unit franchise operator and tech CEO to cut through city hall red tape, establishing neighborhood business hotspots and youth incubators that turn local ideas into real, lasting jobs for workers and families.

Revitalizing Uptown, Downtown, and The Donovan

-
More than just separate business districts—they are the historic heartbeat of our city where local culture and families meet.
-
The Goal: Transform our urban core into a safe, vibrant, and economically active engine that directly improves the quality of life for local residents and shop owners.
-
The Business Approach: High-vacancy areas and neighborhood neglect cannot be fixed with slogans; they require a proactive capital reinvestment mindset. Ron will treat urban revitalization as a major corporate turnaround.
-
The Donovan & Uptown: Breathing fresh life into these proud, historic neighborhoods by securing targeted community project grants, upgrading street-level lighting, and backing small business pop-ups that bring empty storefronts back to life.
-
Downtown Sudbury: We are past empty promises to clean up the streets, enhance public washroom infrastructure, and visible law-and-order responses so that seniors, students, and workers feel safe at bus stops and parks. We need that and way more, downtown. Every great community has a walkable and interesting downtown full of unique shops and businesses that make it feel like the place to be. We need to carefully develop the area and create pocket communities where we can, and so much more. We need a City wide effort to brainstorm the future of Downtown and we need well grounded and fiscally strategic moves on the part of City Hall, to make things proceed well.
-
A Unified Core: Applying his hospitality and tech background to cut municipal red tape, making it seamless for local entrepreneurs to invest in our central wards while protecting the residential charm of the surrounding streets.

Space and Placemaking
We've got community parks in the wards, and ward 12 is no exception. BUT. We have to invest into them to make them 'Spaces and Places' that are safe and friendly, social and full of community engagement. Families, youth, seniors, we all benefit from these natural spaces, but let's make them better. Let's support more community led activation.

A few more things ...
01
Seniors Care, Services, and Fixed Incomes

-
More than just a demographic—they are the cultural foundation of our community.
-
The Goal: Expand seniors’ health care and wellness programs while building accessible public spaces that keep our elders socially connected and safe.
-
Ron's Business Approach: A strict "No New Taxation" policy serves as a direct shield for seniors living on fixed incomes, while his infrastructure background ensures neighborhood streets remain safe, well-lit, and highly walkable. And the services that keep Seniors well and socially engaged will help the community cohesion. Downtown and every ward should be re-designed to be Seniors friendly, and family friendly.
02

-
More than just a social issue—it’s an urgent public safety crisis that requires clear rules and immediate action.
-
The Goal: Clean up our streets, protect neighborhoods, and ensure that our parks, bus stops, and downtown are safe and welcoming for families and business owners.
-
Ron's Business Approach: Compassion without safety fails our residents, but enforcement without services fails those in crisis. Ron will demand a firm, two-pronged management plan: Strict Law and Order to crack down on violent crime, property theft, and the drug dealers trafficking poison into our city, paired with Accountable, Results-Driven Treatment that provides real, structured help, mental health support, and transitional housing for individuals who truly want to recover and rebuild their lives.
03

-
More than just managing decline—it’s about injecting energy, pride, and active life back into our neighbourhoods.
-
The Goal: Connect Sudbury's natural assets, local talent, and historic districts to create a city pulsing with recreation, arts, and real economic opportunities.
-
Ron's Business Approach: A vital community is an economic magnet that gives young families, workers, and seniors a reason to stay. Ron will apply his franchise and technology background to build vibrant public networks—starting with re-thinking our ward parks and recreation, turning Junction Creek into a safe green corridor, revitalizing historic areas like the Flour Mill, and planning a practical, 1500 seat multi-purpose Performing Arts and Culture Centre that serves local Performers and brings in new energy to the City. Sudbury should have a thriving quality of life where local businesses naturally evolve from the activity and engagement of its Citizens.
04

-
More than just an overlooked sector—it’s an area full of historic potential.
-
The Goal: Breathe life into the Flour Mill with targeted community projects, improved street-level safety, and direct neighborhood investments.
-
Ron's Business Approach: Treat community revitalization like a necessary capital upgrade, securing outside provincial and federal grants to build public spaces that make Sudbury better; like a total community re-think of what the historic Flour Mill really could be. Got any ideas? How do you turn the old Flour Mill into a new revitalization of the area with a social and bustling place that people want to visit.

05

-
More than just isolated streets—we are a connected community where every single neighbourhood deserves equal care and serious investment.
-
The Goal: Ensure that whether you live in New Sudbury or our historic outlying areas, your streets are safe, your infrastructure is maintained, and your household budget is protected.
-
Ron's Business Approach: A real city-building plan leaves nobody behind. Ron will take a balanced, boardroom-managed approach to infrastructure that directly addresses the unique pressures facing every corner of our ward:
-
New Sudbury, Grandview, Woodbine and Holland: Keep these area roads safe and well designed for a walkable city. Ensure that the design of Montrose North development to Maley is not a straight through connector with cut through traffic.
-
Mountain Street area and Ferndale Bancroft area of Minnow Lake: Committing targeted municipal resources to fix long-neglected local roads, improve pedestrian safety, and upgrade neighborhood spaces that have waited too long for attention.
-
The Kingsway Corridor: Leveraging commercial growth to fund community improvements without raising property taxes, ensuring the families living just off this busy artery see the direct benefits of local investment.
-
Connecting and Protecting Every Corner of Ward 12

06

-
More than just a few small initiatives—it’s about completely transforming how our city sparks and supports local business growth.
-
The Goal: Turn Ward 12 and Greater Sudbury into a thriving economic engine by providing families, youth, and displaced workers with aggressive, practical paths to build their own success.
-
Ron's Business Approach: Slogans and minor pilot programs won't save our economy; Sudbury needs a total structural rewrite. Leveraging his background as a multi-unit franchise operator and e-commerce tech CEO, Ron will push for a complete municipal reprogramming to cut through City Hall red tape. He will champion the creation of neighborhood entrepreneurship incubators, affordable spaces where early-stage makers can test ideas without heavy risk, and pop-up market hotspots that inject immediate, self-starting commerce straight into the hearts of our communities.

Future-Ready Healthcare, Education, and Benefit

-
More than just provincial jurisdiction—they are the vital institutions that anchor our families and our future.
-
The Goal: Champion forward-thinking, future-ready local services while ensuring every council vote directly benefits the everyday constituents of Ward 12.
-
Ron's Business Approach: While a Ward Councillor doesn’t run the hospital or the school boards, Ron knows City Hall has a massive voice in how these services evolve. He will use his technology and executive background to advocate for modernizing local healthcare and education—pushing for smart coordination, better use of tech, and responsible AI to help streamline services and improve local access.
Most importantly, Ron’s voting record will never be swayed by backroom politics; he will vote strictly for constituent benefit. When it comes to funding, he will strongly back city-wide efforts to always get a greater share of mining revenues to Greater Sudbury. For over a century, global mining operations have extracted billions upon billions from the Sudbury Basin; it is time City Hall leverages that position to ensure outside investments directly improve our local quality of life, infrastructure, and community wellness.

About
Ron 's Qualified, Ready
and Available.
Leveraging a proven executive background in building massive broadcasting networks, managing provincial hospitality franchises, and scaling local e-commerce technology, Ron Goswell is ready to treat Sudbury City Council like the multi-million dollar boardroom it is by serving as the next Ward 12 Councillor to champion neighbourhood safety, lock down fiscal accountability, and secure real opportunities for everyday families.

"Ward 12 does not need small thinking. It needs an executive who understands that an $859-million city operation cannot be managed through slogans alone. By combining my real-world background in building large-scale networks, driving local hospitality jobs, and scaling technology platforms, I will ensure your hard-earned tax dollars are protected, your neighbourhoods are safe, and every community—from New Sudbury to the Flour Mill, Woodbine, Mountain Street, and the Kingsway—is treated with the respect it deserves.
Sudbury Investment + Non-Tax Revenue = New Sudbury Jobs and Prosperity. Vote and Let's make Sudbury wonderful again."
